Right now, I’m bored of the current content in World of Warcraft. Argus has done me in. I’m exalted with the two new factions (Army of the Light and Argussian Reach) but needed a break from the demons, fel and parental issues the Argus patch brought.
So in a moment of madness, I decided I’d go for the coveted achievement Loremaster. That means you travel everywhere on the map and complete (nearly) every quest in each area. It’s time-consuming and is already sending me stir crazy.
My current main character was not my main in the beginning, so naturally I rushed through leveling by running through dungeons until I was all dungeoned-out. Now I’m feeling taking shortcuts big time. I have a load of quests to complete.
The older quest hubs aren’t as well designed as they are nowadays, so it sometimes takes me up to an hour just to find more quests to complete. I’ve grumbled, tutted like the British woman I am, whinged to my husband (poor fella), scoured numerous forum threads and ‘guides’, only for people to recommend installing an add-on to help, which of course hasn’t been updated since the Cataclysm hit. It’s been a test.
However, I won’t give up. I’m going to prove I still got it, that I can play hardcore if I want, despite being a filthy casual. Time is an issue having a little human and responsibilities, but whenever I can play the game, time is spent away from those rushing to complete new content and gear up for the upcoming raid. I’ve been hanging around with those glorious folk who are taking part in ‘Project Sixty’. Actually no. I’m lying. They’re not glorious. I have to actually queue for kills now! One Alliance bloke laughed at me when he tagged the enemy first. Twat.
Blizzard’s customer service has been fantastic with helping me track down quests that I missed and dealing with quests that have bugged. They’ve been so patient and without their aid I would’ve gone completely insane and given up by now.
It’s not all terrible, don’t get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the old zones again. I started playing WoW during Wrath of the Lich King. Completing Loremaster allows me to play content that I missed the first time around. I’m able to play Wrath content and chuckle at how bad I was at playing back then. So, not much change really!
There’s another bonus. I’m collecting new items for transmogrification! I love a good transmog, so that’s an exciting thing for me.
Upon publishing this post, the following Loremaster achievements are complete:
- Loremaster of Kalimdor
- Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms
- Loremaster of Cataclysm
- Loremaster of Draenor
- Loremaster of Legion
That leaves only Netherstorm in Outland, the whole of Northrend and a couple of questlines in Pandaria to complete. After that, I’m Loremaster!
Anybody else working on Loremaster in World of Warcraft or completed it already? Did you enjoy it?
