The first month of my weight loss journey has gone well. In October, I signed up for a membership at my local sports centre. At the time of writing this, I have lost 1kg (around 2lbs) so far. It’s not much, but it’s a loss so that’s good!
I’ve made some changes in my lifestyle, as listed in a previous post. It’s been challenging sticking to it, but I’m trying. I am not dieting, but do plan my evening meals in advance. However, I aim to eat everything in moderation and swap out some ‘bad stuff’ in favour of healthier alternatives.
A couple of people asked what I’m doing exercise-wise. I’m not doing anything too elaborate or crazy, I’m keeping it nice and simple.
I go to the sports centre 3 times a week and either do two days of gym, one swimming, or all three gym. My gym workouts last around an hour and I do the following:
- 30 minutes of cardio, 15 minutes on 2 different pieces of equipment (treadmill, bike, cross trainer).
- 30 minutes of strength training. 3 sets of 12 reps on each (chest press, shoulder press, lat machine, cable station, leg press, leg extension).
I swim for around 30 minutes and aim to swim as many lengths of the pool possible. I want to ensure I exercise even when I can’t get to the sports centre, so I remedy this with a family walk on weekends. It’s good to get out!

There is still a long way to go on this journey. I got to keep going. I hope I can share with you all more progress next month!
